Polymer clay gauges

Polymer clay gauges are relatively easy to make. I am now learning how to make polymer clay gauges for my shop... Starting with the easy ones, then moving on to the more complicated ones. I hope you find this collection inspiring!

Here are some inspiration pictures from the internet that I found:

How to make cat earrings from polymer clay

Here is how to make cute polymer clay cat earring studs for you or someone you love!

You need:
Black and yellow polymer clay
one pair of earrings studs
4 jewelry pins
round jewelry pliers
superglue

Make the face of the cat. Starting with same size
balls is easy to flatten out as a face.

Add two feet. I used a wooden stick to create the toes.
Add yellow spots as background for the eyes.

Roll some polymer clay so it has a sharp end.
Then cut the end with a wooden stick.
Keep in mind you only need a tiny little bit of polymer clay.

This is what you should have now.

Roll the clay gently with your finger to make it more oval.

Use a stick to insert the eye in the middle of the yellow part of the eye.
Make a small oval body on  a jewelry pin like in this picture.
Add two oval feet in the lower part of the body, use the wooden stick to help create toes for the legs.

Make a small clay ball and stick a jewelry pin inside it,
then roll the clay between your fingers to create a tail for the cat.
You now have three parts for each cat: the head, the tail and the body.

Fire the cat parts in an oven heated to 130 celcius for 30 minutes.
Cut the tails jewelry pin shorter and bend it with jewelry
pliers to attach the tail to the body like in this picture.

Now cut the jewelry pin in the body shorter and
bend it inside/around the lock of the stud earring. You cat body is now ready!

Glue the stud on to the cats head.
Use a superglue so strong that you cannot pull the pieces apart.
 I use Loctite superglue.

The front!

The back!

The side!

I hope you enjoyed this how to :)

Thanks for looking!

Pig bookmark for christmas!

I have been making many new bookmarks last few weeks. It includes a pig bookmark for christmas. :) It's been alot of fun! It all started from making the cat bookmark and now I have quite alot of variety in my bookmarks. They have become my bestseller over my jewelry items.

Here are some of my favorite bookmark designs:

My cute little earrings sell alot better in person than trough internet. I guess it is hard to realise the size and weight of the item trough the pictures and when people see them they actually wonder how I can make them so small and detailed. If you have any suggestions on what animals or designs you would like to see in Nellin Shoppi, leave me a comment or contact me!

Here are some of the black jewelry currently for sale in Nellin Shoppi.

A rainy day

It's raining today. I really wanted to take Kaveri to the dog park but I won't because it is raining heavily. Here are some pictures taken from my window and balcony. The rain started maybe half an hour ago and it is coming in bursts. Really feels like the fall is here and summer is finally gone I admit!

What's new!

So it's been a while since I posted anything. I have been super busy working in Putinki since their graphic designer quit the job totally and I have been making all the very late xmas calendar designs and cards. This week has been all about 9 hours days and little else. Today I actually finished the calendars! Woo! Yay I was so happy to finish them! Who knew that making X-mas calendars require so many layers for printing...

Anyway, I bet you guys are dying to read about the Helsinki Kädentaitomessut and how did it go! Well, it actually went allright. There weren't many people coming to the fair tho this time and I personally think it is because there were many big events during that weekend and Design market had over 20 000 visitors. I made some nice connections and some sales so it was all good for me!

I did learn that the finnish buyers are the type who only look from a distance and that we don't want to present our stand this way:

Instead this worked A LOT BETTER:

My bookmarks and cute earrings sold nicely and I am now in the process of making more penguins and owls for my earrings. I also have many custom designs avaiting to be made this weekend. I also need to design more dog earrings for Koirakahvila Vainu (dog cafe in Tampere).

Here are some more pictures from the fair:
